BIPOC Therapy in Denver, Colorado

You shouldn’t have to choose between quality mental health care and being understood for who you are.

At Denver Latino Counseling, we provide culturally-informed therapy that recognizes your unique identities and challenges as a Black, Indigenous, or person of color in our community. You deserve a therapeutic space where your full identity is seen and valued.

Understanding Mental Health Challenges in BIPOC Communities

Being a person of color in Denver means carrying experiences that mainstream therapy often fails to address. You may be dealing with daily microaggressions, workplace discrimination, or the exhaustion of constantly code-switching between cultural spaces.

For Latino individuals and families, these challenges are compounded by immigration stress, language barriers, and pressure of supporting family both here and abroad. You might be navigating the complexity of multiple racial identities, experiencing intersectional stress where different forms of discrimination amplify each other.

BIPOC communities carry both historical and ongoing trauma that affects mental health profoundly. This includes generational trauma passed down through families and the daily impact of living in systems that weren’t designed for your success.

Common Challenges We Address in BIPOC Therapy

Whether it’s being followed in stores, having your qualifications questioned at work, or feeling the weight of injustice, racial trauma is real and cumulative. You might find yourself constantly on guard or struggling with anxiety and anger that others don’t understand.

Many BIPOC individuals struggle with belonging: “Am I Latino enough? Am I American enough?” These questions become complex when navigating multiple identities while maintaining cultural connections in predominantly white spaces.

From being passed over for promotions to being the only person of color in your workplace, these experiences create chronic stress. You might find yourself working twice as hard while managing others’ perceptions and feeling isolated.

Our Culturally-Informed BIPOC Therapy Approach

Our bilingual therapists understand the intersection of Latino identity with other racial experiences. We don’t just provide Spanish-speaking therapy—we offer BIPOC therapy that recognizes the unique challenges of being a person of color in Denver’s Latino community.

Internal Family Systems therapy helps you integrate different parts of your identity that may feel in conflict. Whether navigating your professional self versus cultural self, IFS provides a framework for honoring all parts of who you are.

EMDR therapy is particularly effective for processing racial trauma, immigration-related trauma, and other adverse experiences. Our BIPOC therapists use EMDR while understanding the cultural context of your experiences.

What to Expect in BIPOC Therapy

From your first session, you’ll experience therapy where you don’t have to translate your experience or justify your perspective. Our therapists understand the daily realities of being a person of color without judgment.

Whether you prefer Spanish, English, or both, our bilingual therapy accommodates your language preferences. We understand that emotions are sometimes better expressed in your native language.

While we address trauma counseling and challenges, our approach is fundamentally strength-based. We recognize the resilience and cultural assets you bring from your BIPOC identity.
